Platelet-rich Plasma Therapy

A form of regenerative medicine that uses injections of a concentration of a patient’s own platelets

Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

Whether due to illness, injury, or natural aging process, your body is constantly repairing itself. However, this process can often be slow and frustrating.

Platelet-rich therapy is an emerging treatment option that uses the body’s own platelets.

Platelets are a type of blood cell that contains growth factors, which are natural substances that help to encourage tissue regeneration.

Consult with our doctor and find out if Platelet-rich Plasma can benefit you.

What is Platelet-rich Plasma Therapy?

A form regenerative medicine that uses injections of a concentration of a patient’s own platelets.

The plasma of your blood contains special proteins that help your blood clot (in a good way) and also to help support new and healthy cell growth.

Steps involved in the PRP procedure

Consultation

The process typically begins with a consultation with a healthcare professional who will assess your medical history

Blood Draw

During the procedure, a small sample of your blood (usually around 3060 milliliters) is collected from a vein in your arm.

Spin

The collected blood sample is then placed in a centrifuge, a machine that spins at high speeds to separate its components.

Platelet Concentration

Once separated, the platelet-rich plasma portion of the blood is extracted. This plasma contains a higher concentration of platelets than normal blood

Injection

The PRP is then injected into the targeted area of the body using a fine needle. Is usually numbed with a local anesthetic to minimize discomfort during the procedure.

Follow-Up

Depending on the condition being treated, you may need multiple PRP sessions spaced out over several weeks to months.
